+Katydid & Miles Stone
We have had a couple of bugs disappear, in particular one who disappeared from the very first cache it was dropped in. In other words, it never logged any miles! I was considering replacing it with a similar object, and using the Copy tag. I have seen this done with TB's I've picked up. What do you think? Is it OK to do? Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
No problem. Just don't dump the original logs, but you don't sound like that's what you are planning. Quote Link to comment
+Eartha
That is what the copy tag is for. Had your travel bug gotten any logs on it, I would not delete them, as it deletes them from the finder's lists as well, I would simply change the bug page to reflect the new tag, and post a note on the new date, and go from there. +Katydid & Miles Stone
Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't sure. It kind of felt like cheating, getting 2 uses out of the same tag. But our poor tiger TB disappeared from his first cache, and I want to send another out...so anyway, thanks! Quote Link to comment
luvs2bake
I have seen it done several times. It is very fustratinig to people who just place the bug and it goes MIA right away or very quickly. You feel like you just threw away the money you spend on the TB tag. Quote Link to comment
+BlueDeuce
You can always re-release a bug number, whether using the copy or making your own. Making your own might cost a few extra bucks, but it seems to me that you could have a bigger problem if the old bug resurfaces. It's tricky to know when to give up on a missing bug. luvs2bake
I have friends that released a bug. It went missing from the cache, the page in the cache journal was removed. It was missing for several months. No logs, nothing. Three months later it shows up on the opposite coast. Then another six months goes by and the people who had taken it out of the cache with the missing cache page, log the visit with it back dated. Apparently they were new and didn't know what they were doing. Once they had been in a while and figured it all out, they logged the bug. It was pretty weird. I am sure it is hard to figure out how long to wait until you give up and rerelease. Quote Link to comment
