+Rainwater
I think I might have a source for decon containers. Would 2-3 bucks plus shipping be worth it or is that too expensive? Quote Link to comment
+Renegade Knight
That seems normal for them. Our local military surplus biz sells them for 99 cents each. I'm not sure why we seem to have them so cheap especially when the biz isn't cheap on ammo cans. Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
99 cents is what I paid for mine way back when, too, so $2-3 seems a little steep to me. I used to think that decon containers were the cat's meow until I started running into all sorts of maintenance issues with them. The caps are relatively hard to snap on tightly, so people often fail to reclose the containers properly leading to moisture problems. Also, people love to overstuff them, which also leads to problems with closure. I now limit their use to intermediary waypoints in a multicache, where the only thing I place in them are laminated coordinates to the next waypoint. Quote Link to comment
+Rainwater
OK...I wondered about that price and come to think about it I have seen a couple that where not closed properly when I found them... I guess becoming a supplier for them at that price would be a bad idea then... Edited January 13, 2005 by Rainwater Quote Link to comment
+BadAndy
Closing them and opening them isn't as much of an issue in warmer weather, but when it gets cold out....they can be nearly impossible to open. I have been using my handy dandy barleybrew sig bottle opener with great success opening decon boxes. Quote Link to comment

Now that handy keychain implement has one more use!. Quote Link to comment
