Decon Containers?

Hi,

I've heard lots of people mention "Decon Containers" when talking about small cache containers...I assume that they're not talking about the rat poison boxes (which are cardboard and, well...poison). I would love to find out what they really are, I hate that, "out of the loop" feeling.

Thanks,

Try clicking the search icon and typing decon into the Search by keyword box.

Select anydate in the refine search area, click the "search title only" radio button. Highlight "all forums" in the search where section. This returns 9 results. Probably more information than anybody wants or needs about decon boxes.

Actually...simply responding that they are small -sized military surplus decontamination containers would have been more than enough, and would have saved you some typing.

It would, however, have robbed you of a valuable teachable moment.

At any rate, I now know what decon containers are.

Thanks again,

I see a lot of post in which new comers are admonished to search the forums before they ask a question. I have never seen anybody explain how. Just thought it might help. There is a huge amount of information contained within these hallowed halls there for the taking, if you have the keys.

I'm not sure what that means.

I was NBC in the army (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare Specialist).

These decon containers were used to hold very dangerous chemicals...

No just kidding. The were used to hold a charchol (sp?) like powder which would presumably soak up any chemical agent applied to the skin.

Although this wasnt necessary information, I thought it might be interesting to some.

Some do have a warning on the lid saying that it contains caustic chemicals, or something like that. I usually sand that off just so it doesn't alarm people.

Decon containers are used to hold decontamination toweletts. They are really just gauze soaked in a neutralizing chemical that is supposed to counteract and remove droplets of chemicals from the skin. There are three steps; each packet has a big number on it, that you would apply in order.
