user13371 Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 (edited) Does anyone have coordinate for the main building entrance and/or the main parking lot entrance for the relatively new Air & Space Museum in Chantilly Virginia? According to their website, the entrance is off of route 28, about a 1/2 mile north of route 50. Though the mailing address is given as "14390 Air & Space Museum Parkway," neither this address nor any maps I can find on-line show the area in detail. Just a big grey blank area off to the side of Dulles Airport. Looking at MS Streets & Trips, my best guess for the main entrance is 38.90379, -77.43435. Can anyone improve on this by actual observation? Edited April 14, 2004 by lee_rimar Quote
2qwerqE Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 Yahoo gives this address: National Air & Space Museum (202) 357-1387 6 Independence Ave SW Washington DC 22.7 mi* near Chantilly VA which when I plug it into Maporama, gives these cords: Lat-Long: 38° 53' 15" , -77° 0' 50" || 38.8875 , -77.014 Hope that helps. I'm looking for the coords of the new exhibit hall. It's in Chantilly, next to Dulles International Airport. Quote
mtn-man Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 I may have that from a track log since I was just there a few weeks ago. It is just off of 28 as you have noted. You are not trying to create some sort of cache are you? Quote
pstar Posted April 14, 2004 Posted April 14, 2004 38 54.892 077 26.378 That'll get you to the main gate where you pay $12 for parking. It's down the street from me so let me know if you need more coords. Quote
user13371 Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 (edited) PStat: Thanks for the coords. I already know about the parking fee. Mtn-man: No, I'm not planning to create a cache. Team-Misguided: Because I'm planning a trip and want the significant points pre-loaded into my GPS. Edited April 15, 2004 by lee_rimar Quote
mtn-man Posted April 15, 2004 Posted April 15, 2004 Good to hear and thanks. You will love the visit there. I got some great photos while there. It is well done. I really enjoyed seeing the Enterprise, though she looks pretty rough right now. She is being restored. I also liked seeing the Enola Gay and an SR-71. I will see if I can get the pics up on my web site this weekend and then I will put a link here. It will give you a little preview. In the mean time... The SR71 with the Enterprise in the background. The Enola Gay and the Concorde SST in the background. Quote
user13371 Posted April 15, 2004 Author Posted April 15, 2004 (edited) Mtn-Man: Thanks, I'm really looking forward to it. Quite a few of the exhibits will be interesting to me. I usually don't brag, but I've already seen more than one SR-71 and Space Shuttle close up, and not in a museum. Lee Edited April 15, 2004 by lee_rimar Quote
