  1. If I can get out of a couple of baseball games, I'll be there! I didn't think I'd like virts that much but the geoteaming event we had in DC a couple of weeks ago was a blast. Now I'm hooked.
  2. Way To Go Gary!! Your nearest unfound cache must be in PA somewhere...
  3. Congrats, TeamLerk. Looking forward to running into you guys one of these days!

    Geoteaming Event

We had a great time. Playtime created 18 virts for us to find during the course of two 1.5 hour sessions. (I personally prefer physical caches but these are hard to place in DC. I believe they have a course in Maryland with physical caches.) We competed in teams of 5 to score the most points (caches were ranked by difficulty and/or distance from base) but we also had a combined goal to get all 18 so we had to work as a corporate team to accomplish this. It was a beautiful day for caching and we walked, and at times ran, from the Lincoln Memorial to the the other end of the mall, stopping at nearly everything in between. Several virts were indoors so the security checks slowed us down a bit. Playtime equipped us with GPSrs, digital cameras and pocket PCs that held the virt questions. To score a find, every member of the team had to be in the picture at the cache location so we couldn’t split up or leave anyone behind. One of the prizes was for most creative picture and we came back with some pretty funny ones. It was nice to meet bigkid (aka John Chen) and his team. They did a great job and the event was a huge success. At the end we gathered at Buffalo Billiards for beer and pool and discussed the highlights. I guess that sort of makes this an event cache! (Ooops, that’s a different thread!)
  5. My company is sending about 30 of us Geocaching on Friday. We've signed up with Playtime and we'll be caching in DC. I'm really looking forward to this. For one, it's caching on company time, and you really can't beat getting paid to cache. Anyone else done this? Not sure if these are real caches that you can claim as finds on gc.com. I'll let you know how it goes... BTW, I'm leaving my buck knife at home this time. Apparently, they're illegal in the District. Found this out while caching at the Washington Monument with Team NoVa12 in our quest for Blood & Guts back in January. Security had fun with us...
  6. 3 out of 7 still active. 2 of the missing are geocoins, gone after 11 & 8 miles. Sheesh. I'll be using suggestions from 'Snoogans' Tb Longevity Clinic' for the next one I release...
  7. Sure, why not? Should be easy enough to leave in proximity to caches that are off-the-beaten path so as not to be muggled or give away the cache but still be found by the caching community. Are you going to put it in a plastic baggie?
  8. I just got over a raging case of PI searching for "Back Door?". If I didn't want to risk it, I wouldn't go caching. (Maybe if I wore more than shorts and sandals...) Bring it on! (itch, itch, scratch, scratch)
  9. Way to go, Geo! And I'm glad that one of mine was your 100th, even though you were after Gaiter Man's "Back Door?" cache!
  10. Way to go, Gaiter! You're in the big leagues now!
  11. Point taken! Now where did I put that big friggin hole drillin' drill bit...
  12. How about shortest distance before going MIA? A whopping 11 miles for one of my geocoins! Probably more vulnerable to being 'souvenired' than a regular TB.
  13. One person's cache is another one's treasure...or something like that.
  14. Good going and keep on cachin'!
  15. Which cache was your 100?
  16. You go, boy! Congrats. I'll beat ya to 200!
  17. Go Gary, go Gary, it's your birthday, go Gary.
  18. Way to go, Bis! Hopefully, I'll bump into you before your next 100 finds!
  19. 38 54.892 077 26.378 That'll get you to the main gate where you pay $12 for parking. It's down the street from me so let me know if you need more coords.
  20. Way to go Hwy. I guess you heard footsteps, eh?
  21. Wow! The milestone of milestones. Great accomplishment!! (I'm only 931 behind you!!)
  22. Way to go, boxermom. And to think, a mere few months ago, you were behind me!
