+Andy and Robin
When I installed my new Mapsource U.S. Topo yesterday the only installation option was "typical" I would like to do a full install with all maps and data installed on the hard drive. It requires the disk to be in the hard drive right now. Any ideas? Quote Link to comment

+shagbark
Andy and Robin Here is what I did to install mapsource to my hard drive. I was only interested in East at this time. Copied East to my harddrive. Yours is probably C:\ mine just happens to be E:\ . Then you have to edit the registry so Garmin Mapsource knows where to find it. I'm using XPHome, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, click on the + sign to expand it. Then cllick on the + sign next to SOFTWARE, then GARMIN, mine was under PRODUCTS, folder was identified at 6 . Clicked on it to expand it on the right side of window. Right clicked LOC file and choose modify. Changed location from D:\East (My DVD drive) to E:\ my hard drive where it was copied. Now works without the CD . Of course you should back up your registry first. Hope this helps you. Shagbark Quote Link to comment
