+wingryder
My son and I geocache with the same handheld at different times. We maintain a "current" not found file for each of us. Is there a quick way to "clear" the current waypoints or will just uploading the new file do this automatically? Quote Link to comment
+Alan2
You didn't mention which unit you use but my Garmin Vista has two areas that you can delete all the waypoints first before loading a new set. You have to delete, at least in the Vista, as downloading a new set will just add to the ones already in the unit except if it's a duplicate. I tmust get confusing. I have trouble keeping track of what's on my unit and I'm the only one using it. Hmmm. Father's Day is a few months off - just in time for the summer caching season. Drop a few hints. +DrJill
I have a GPSV and this is how I do it. Push find, highlight waypoint and enter, highlight By Name and enter, without highlighting any letters highlight OK and enter, then push menu and it will prompt you to what you want to delete. Hope this helps, DrJill Quote Link to comment
+DustyJacket
I have a Magellan, but hopefully this works for Garmin: If you use ExpertGPS, there is a menu selection that deletes all waypoints. I keep various waypoint files on my PC. One set for caches around work, another for around the home, one more for permanent personal waypoints, etc. Then I can download from my GPS to my PC to keep the files current. I usually clear out my GPS waypoints before uploading a new list. DustyJacket ...If life was fair, a banana split would cure cancer. Quote Link to comment

+MrGigabyte
If your Garmin has a click stick, here are two simple ways to do it. Find > Waypoints > Nearest > Menu > Delete All ...OR... Trip Computer > Menu > Reset > Delete All Waypoints > Apply Quote Link to comment
GT-5
I know on the Venture, which we have, you can delete by icon. Mark all the W/P's you want to keep with the Geocache not found icon, and delete the rest or the ones you want to delete. Main Menu> Find> Waypoints> Nearest> Clickstick left> Clickstick Enter> Delete By Symbol Quote Link to comment
+wingryder
Thanks to all but.... First off that underwater reset button is a little too drastic for me. Second my gpsr is a 76S and its easy enough to delete waypoints "one at a time" I have over 800 in it. I am looking for a simple way to empty (dump) them all. As has been said.. if I just upload a new file.. it will just add those waypoints that are not dupes. There is a reset procedure for this receiver but then you have to go through the "new out of the box" sat. setup and I dont want that. All I want to do is "clear" the waypoints. ???? +wingryder
Oh do I have egg on my face... I missed that little "delete all" message under waypoints. It pays to re-read the manual. Sorry about that Quote Link to comment
