  1. How do you include a video link in the Description section of an AL? Each stage has a YouTube form input element, but not the Description. Any ideas would be appreciated.
  2. Clicking on my Souvenir "Mystery at the Museum: Briefed on the case", results in a 500 Server error. Is that part of the clue?

  4. How to turn OFF caches that I have found and caches I own? Setting a filter under Cache Status to show only Not Found and Not Owned, does not return the the correct caches to the map.
  5. Canada Day Special - July 1, 2016 On July 1, 2016, Canada celebrates its 149th Birthday. 2016 also marks the 14th anniversary of Canadian Geocaching Geocoins. We were the first commercially available geocoin and those coins rolled out of the mint and into the hands of cachers worldwide, in March 2002. In recognition of Canada Day and our 14th anniversary, we would like to offer the following special on Canadian Geocaching Geocoins, which of course, are trackable on geocaching.com. For every 2 coins ordered on July 1, 2016 (PDT), we will include a 3rd coin for FREE. This is a one day only offer. When ordering online, the order form will not mention the additional free coins, nor will the paid invoice. For every 2 coins on the order, we will have our geomonkies drop another coin in the package. If you have any questions, please email me directly. Happy Canada Day. Canadian Geocaching Geocoins

  8. Model: GPSmap62s Software version: 4.80 Here is an interesting new feature I just discovered. The only requirement is that you have a geocache loaded in the device that is very close to your current location, as the feature is proximity based. If you don't have a nearby cache, just create one in GSAK or edit the waypoint coords in a GPX file, and use your current location for the position values. Find > Geocaches Select nearby cache. (needs to be very close, within 30m) Go Direct Routing Page > Compass Found Verify Find Device immediately shuts off. If you receive a note that you must be at the location of the geocache to verify the find, then you were not close enough to see this new feature in action. Thanks Garmin for one more way to crash this thing!

  13. Can't believe it is Canada's 140th birthday on Sunday. Seems like only 40 years ago we celebrated a centennial! :-) To help celebrate, we are offering a Canada Day Special on Canadian Geocoins. For more info, please see this thread in the GC geocoin forum. Happy Canada Day
  14. Coins are shipped from Vancouver, BC, via Canada Post. Yes, we ship worldwide. The cost for shipping is the same, regardless of destination. Although that is likely to change in the future, for the moment, we absorb the additional cost of shipping to Europe. BTW: They are cheaper by the kilo! :-)

  16. Can anyone recommend a hotel in or around Marysville? I have checked the reviews of many of them (at tripadvisor etc) and most of the reviews say you would be better off sleeping in your car than staying in the local hotels. Looking for a place with a pool and wireless. If they have wireless at the pool, so much the better! :-) :-) Any suggestions other than sleeping in my car? -MrG
  17. I just dropped a package for you off at the post office. • 2 Original Canadian geocoins • 2 New Edition Canadian geocoins Great idea. I cannot think of a more worthy cause to donate to. Thank you for doing this. -MrG
  18. March 2006 marked the beginning of the 5th year we have been producing Canadian geocaching geocoins. Our original coin was the first commercially available geocoin, and still is a very popular geocoin with tens of thousands of coin movement logs recorded. Our original coins were trackable at our web site years before geocaching.com allowed custom trackable items. As such, our original coins cannot easily be migrated to the relatively new GC coin tracking system that many cachers desire. As a result, we are pleased to announce the immediate availability of a our New Edition Canadian geocaching geocoin, which is indeed, trackable on geocaching.com, complete with its own icon. Our new coins are: 100% solid brass, plated with nickel and polished to a satin finish 37mm (1.5" diameter) Weigh 30 grams Coloured on both sides Epoxy coated to protect the award quality finish. Trackable at geocaching.com Custom Canadian icon Coins are priced at $9.50 USD each, plus shipping. We only take orders through our web site and we only accept VISA and MasterCard as payment options. These coins are shipped from Canada, and as such shipping charges are those based on international rates should the destination be outside of Canada. For more information, or to place an order, please visit www.geocoins.ca Thank you for your continued interest in our Canadian geocoins.
  19. UPDATE: The official Canadian (GC trackable) geocoin is now nearly ready for release. We have had to make a few changes to our design which delayed the production a few weeks. We anticipate having photographs of the actual coins available early next week, which I will post here. We will begin taking orders shortly thereafter. I will post to a new thread as soon as our ordering system is in place. Thank you for your patience.
  20. DogbreathCanada is sending out unsolicited emails to cachers who have logged DNF's on mine and other caches recently and providing them with exact directions and solutions to the caches. I have received notes from recipients of these emails, complaining about DBCs actions. Here is one such log today... http://www.geocaching.com/seek/log.aspx?LU...4b-e43b551edee2 In addition, DBC publicly announced he will send out solutions to my caches in local forums. After being contacted by several cachers and I confirmed DBC email broadcast, I sent the following email to him asking him to please not not send out spoilers to my caches. -- Copy of email sent to dogbreathcanada -- Mike, It has been brought to my attention that you are sending out unsolicited spoilers to my caches. In addition, you are publicly offering provision of said spoilers in public forums. At this time I am formally requesting you please do not send, mail, post any information about my cache locations, either solicited or unsolicited, by any means or in any form. Please govern yourself accordingly. Thank you for your cooperation. ----- His response was to start this thread.
  21. That is not true. When a coin of yours get logged you, as the owner, are emailed notification. In that email is the Direct link to the coin.
  22. A geocaching.com trackable Canadian geocoin is already in production and will be available very shortly. It has its own custom Canadian icon. An announcement will be made on www.geocoins.ca once the coins are shipping. We are not taking pre-orders.
  23. I would like to take this opportunity to clarify my position in discussions with BC Parks. I initiated contact with BC Parks in January of this year when I was informed of a policy already being discussed internally at BC Parks. I came into this knowledge partly through these very forums. As a geocacher in BC, I was concerned as to any restrictive regulations being implemented that would affect the activity as it has recently done so in Ontario and Parks Canada. Anyone could have picked up the phone as well as I and asked to talk to BC Parks. Subsequently, I was jointly invited to attend a preliminary, introductory meeting with BCGA and BC Parks. In my role as a cache reviewer I have knowledge as to the practicality of implementing any regulation or policy from an administrative aspect of listing caches on geocaching.com. It was only in this capacity that my opinions as a volunteer representative of geocaching.com and Groundspeak were made. My interest in the talks as a BC geocacher are just that - as a participant in the activity that may be impacted by any policy. My interest in the talks as a reviewer are from the technical and practical aspect of implementing any additional hurdles and burden to the review process, such as it exists. (i.e. cache types, availability of park boundary maps, conflict with existing general listing guidelines etc.) At no time did I in anyway represent geocaching.com or Groundspeak in proposing any policy whatsoever. Anyone that claims the contrary is misinformed. If Groundspeak has any interest in specific policy, those statements will come from Groundspeak, not from the reviewer team. Reiterating, I never made any suggestions to BC Parks regarding actual policy from a volunteer representative of Groundspeak. I hope this clarifies the situation, my position as a BC geocacher, my position as a volunteer reviewer, and my position in discussions with BC Parks, to which, just like you, are welcome to participate in. I encourage anyone that has any issues to step up to the plate and put forth some effort and time and suggestions to mutually work with BC Parks to come up with a policy that fulfills the mandate of BC Parks and those of the geocaching community.
