Its been done, but a lot of people find it annoying. One idea is to have a play button so people can turn it on and off if they want to.

Yes, please allow the viewer to turn off the music if desired.

 

I personally don't find music adds anything special to a page.

Thanks folks for the pages and sound advice. The Dallas Theme cache was pretty hard on the ears (and eyes)!!! I think the button approach is the best one to take.

I'm no fan of music on the page. I have dinosaur dialup and it takes long enough to load pages without adding music.

oh, god, no! NO MORE MUSIC on cache pages! no more music on ANY page that doesn't require the user to WANT to hear it (play as a choice, as opposed to stop as a choice)

 

honest, i like music, but i won't even look at a page with default music.

 

i cannot stress this enough. music is good. automatically loading webpage music is one of the scourges of the universe and is about as welcome as a ham-and-cheese sandwich on the bar mitzvah buffet.

 

automatically loading MIDI files are on a par with fake fur and whoopie cushion sympathy cards.

I believe <bgsound is still an allowable tag.

sometimes people look at cache pages at work - music is not welcome.

 

there's a cache in my area called "burl ives", where a music clip is available should you want to hear it. that's the way to do it. if you just want to play music, well, that sort of thing is like "cool ringtones" - a good way to brand yourself as a techno-schmuck.

I added some songbird sounds to my page.. just ran the sound twice and shut it off. Can you hear it? I did'nt think it was too obnoxious...

Hey I like those birds in the background. GREAT IDEA! I'll have to use something similar on my next cache. By the way, I did add music to my latest cache (not approved yet) and I used the link method so it wouldn't be obnoxious. Thanks to all who helped me with this.

That has to be the most annoying page i have ever seen. Between the music and the animation,and the bright red backround. YECH!
