GOT GPS?
The Meridian Platinum Color GPS features needed: *180x240 pixel screen for less pixelated maps. *USB port in the GPS for PDA-like hot syncing *When you plug in the GPS to a USB port on the computer it would autolaunch MAP SEND software. *Ability to hot sync files to and from the GPS when you plug it in. It would download to computer all new waypoint, route, and tracklog files, and upload to gps all new mapsets when you hot-sync, so no need of pulling out the memory card from the GPS. *16 digit file names on SD-memory cards *Ability to show the last 10 saved Tracklogs from the memory card, or for a given amount of time. *A selectable feature to allow the GPS to SAVE and clear the tracklog upon shutting off the GPS. *A selectable feature to allow segmenting the active tracklog. +leatherman
Yeah, and also, not so dadgum big. Big? Do you have iddy biddy piddies? The Meridian is smaller than the Garmin 76's. It's thinner and much lighter than the GPS V. With the antenna sticking up in the air, the 60's are the same size as the Meridian. They just have a thin, flimsy, rubber cover instead of the whole housing encasing it. I hope your not thinking eTrex size! the screen on the eTrex is way too small. Quote Link to comment
SBPhishy
No, I hate the etrex size. I have a Meridian and I love it. But, if the Meridian was the size of the Spotrak, I'd be stoked. And no, I don't have iddy biddy piddies... Edited February 20, 2004 by SBPhishy Quote Link to comment
Gorak
Why not just include Bluetooth and/or IR and skip the cables altogether? I'd also like longer waypoint names and the ability to save more waypoint and longer tracks. _____________ Gorak Quote Link to comment
2LuknF8
Ability to add multiple waypoint files that are user selectable, wider variety of icons, and able to use more tha 128Mb SD cards. And don't forget the electronic compass and barometer that is in the Platinum but no the color. Quote Link to comment
Karma Hunter
How about a way to toggle the unit to a very basic "palm pilot" mode where you could have all your cache pages stored so you don't have to carry paper OR an actual palm pilot when you're caching. Put that USB connection to good use. Quote Link to comment
SBPhishy
and able to use more tha 128Mb SD cards. I think you can already do that... The IR and/or bluetooth would be pretty cool. Quote Link to comment
GeoDiver/GeoGrammy
and able to use more tha 128Mb SD cards. I use a 256MB card in my MeriPlat and it works just fine..... Quote Link to comment
