Link & Zelda
It seems Mopar has provided you with the definitive Geocaching.com search list For those who stumble upon this thread, you can also subscribe to J-Pass. This is a list put out by NASA that shows the times, flight paths and apparent brightness of satellites, including the International Space Station. The ISS is usually the brightest of all satellites and is very easily seen. Learning to read the list requires a bit of study. But once you understand what the numbers mean, it's easily read. I've found viewing iridium flares to be a frustrating experience. It entails being on the path of specular sunlight rays reflecting off the small solar panels of a satellite. This makes for a very narrow path of observance. Here's the main J-Pass page (you can subscribe here): http://science.nasa.gov/RealTime/JPass/20/ Here's an explanation of the format: http://science.nasa.gov/RealTime/JPass/Pas...rator/help.html Here's a good overview on the observation of satellites: http://www.satobs.org/satintro.html Edited February 12, 2004 by Link & Zelda Quote Link to comment

dutchmaster
I've found viewing iridium flares to be a frustrating experience. I use the Heavens Above site for Iridium flares and find it very accurate (with the proper coords) and have seen some spectacular flares. Granted they don't last long but that's what makes those teasers worth the hunt. Quote Link to comment
+The Cheeseheads
Where I am, everytime I look up the predicted times, they're always at some ungodly hour in the morning. I saw a bunch last summer where it seemed every night there was one around 10:00 pm, but that hasn't happened in awhile. They are cool to see, though, and it's neat that they can be predicted like that! Quote Link to comment
+Brian - Team A.I.
I have yet to see one (that I knew was one), but there are a couple daytime ones I'm going to shoot for in the next few days. One a 6.9 and the other 8.0 from my home. Quote Link to comment
