+pqcachers Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Here's the question: You know of a locationless cache spot, let's say a town that begins with "Z". Is there someway to search to see if the name has already been taken without reading all 209 of the logs? TIA! Quote
+IV_Warrior Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Other than post the find and see if the owner deletes it? Not that I know of, that's one of the problems with locationless caches, that new placements currently aren't allowed. Quote
metaliklabs Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Use the advanced search feature. The link is underneath the nomal searcher. I hope this helps. Quote
+GeoCraig Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Click at the bottom of the list so that all postings can be viewed. Then click on Edit, Find on This Page and do a search of your coordinates. I usually just enter 34 or 118, my major coordinates in southern California. Then click on Find Next until you reach the bottom of the postings. If your coordinates aren't already listed, you are good to go with your new find. Happy Caching! Quote
The_Brownies Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 No Problem..Using IE(internet Explorer) Open the cache page. Click on View ALL Logs. Now PRess CTRL+F and type in the word you are looking for. Click on FIND NEXT. You will get a match or you won't. Quote
SE7EN Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 (edited) Go to the cache page and list all of the logs. When the page fully loads, hold the CTRL key and tap F. Type in the name and click FIND NEXT. If it's spelled correctly, it'll show up. Another trick: Go to Google, type in "site:geocaching.com" and the town name and hit enter. It will list all of the pages it has with the town name on the geocaching.com site. EDIT: two people beat me to it! Edited January 22, 2004 by SE7EN Quote
+pqcachers Posted January 22, 2004 Author Posted January 22, 2004 Thanks for the lightning fast replies! I never thought of using the search on the computer, I was thinking of a site search (ok, so I'm not a computer guru ) Thanks again! Quote
+programmer64 Posted January 22, 2004 Posted January 22, 2004 Here's the question: You know of a locationless cache spot, let's say a town that begins with "Z". If you are doing that one with the town that begins with "Z" locationless I think it's ok to log the same town more than once because of the abundance of logs. I never thought of of using the computer search either I usually trudge through all the logs!! Quote
