More likely on my budget it would have to be wooden nickels or poker chips. If anyone has sugestions of where they've had there's made or knows of someplace to do this, please post here. Thanks. +bazzle Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 I had a pair of custom rubber stamps made and got some blank nickels from Ye Olde Wooden Nickel Shoppe for $18/pound (about 200 nickels). The stamps were about $20 each. Now I can make all the personal signature nickels I need. I will post links to the sites I used when I return home to my puter Quote
+pnew Posted December 28, 2003 Posted December 28, 2003 yeah I think bazzle's idea of buying your own custom made stamps is best because you can make unlimited wooden geonickels at your convenience. I've seen blank wooden nickels for pretty cheap at both Michael's and Hobby Lobby. Quote

Check Old Time Wooden Nickel Co, blanks are $18 per 1 1/4 pounds, that is about 200 nickels for $0.09 cents each. I got my stamps custom made at theStampMaker.com for about $20 each, I have one for front and one for back. I then pealed them off of the square stampers they came on and mounted one to each end of a 2" wooden thread spool, perfect size for stamping on 2" wooden nickels . Be sure to use StazOn ink pads, they are the best I found for stamping in the finished wood of the nickels. End result look like these. Quote

+bons Posted January 1, 2004 Posted January 1, 2004 I just did a couple orders at Woodcraft & supplies and shop 4 stamps. Seemed like decent prices to me and I could upload an image for the custom self-inking stamp. We'll see how they turn out. Quote
+bazzle Posted January 2, 2004 Posted January 2, 2004 Bons - be sure that your "self inking" stamp uses a solvent based ink. The others most commonly used with these stamps will not stamp or dry well on wood. Quote

Oh well, worst comes to worst, I'll find some cool looking paper, stamp it, burn the edges for effect, glue that baby down, and put some clear coat on it. Thanks for the warning.
