What Time Is It?

So I just broke out my GPSr after a few months on the shelf and found that it had not updated its clock for daylight-saving time (set back an hour for the winter). I played with it for about 30 minutes trying to find a way to set the clock to proper time- no luck.

Unit: Magellan 315 (latest firmware upgrade)

Things tried: Initializing, clock format, all setup functions

Any ideas how/why?

(sorry if this topic has been discussed, didn't find anything about it when I searched old posts)

Press Menu button and look for SETUP selection.

Goto the Setup Screen

Select Time Format

Then Select: LOCAL 24HR, LOCAL AMPM, or UTC.

Then adjust your time manually by one hour, then press ENTER then QUIT

I just fixed the time just now.

Thanks, now it's on time.

You obviously aren't getting out enough. Why don't you take some time off, drop some classes and get out into the woods, you pasty-faced .....well...nevermind.

If it was a Garmin I'd tell you to reset it. So, I guess I can't help you...still...wanted to say, "Hi." :D

P.S. Next weekend?

That's exactly what I needed (and had somehow not done...)! Thanks!

oh, and on a side note- does the GPSr recieve time from the satellites or is it based on user input? I just figured if cell phones could do it, why not GPS?

The GPSr gets it's time from the stats. But it does need to know what format, time zone, and Daylight Savings etc. As far as I know, no one has made a unit that uses it current location to determine time zone. No real demand for it I guess.
