I frequently use iodine tab's in the camelbak bladder which discolor the bottom but would take care of any nasties that want to grow in the bag. Thought the tabs are used because the water is questionable not to clean it out.

These are good soaps to use to wash your reservoir

 

You'll want to get a brush for the resevoir and one for the drinking tube also. they make kits that have everything you would need to clean out your reservoir.

Dr. Bronners is a bit expensive for every day use.

I just wash my water bladder with whatever dish soap happens to be oun the counter. One reason I prefer the Platypus over the Camekback is that it's easier to clean and dry out.

I don't know anything about the platypus but want to learn and I think the camelbak reservoirs aren't bad to clean out they have a big opening for just that.
