+Bilder
Just emailed our Dept of Natural Resources and asked about geocaching on state land and in state parks. Their response was "Go ahead, have fun." Nice too see that the lower 48 mentality of banning this sport has not hit up here yet. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have never been lost. +briansnat
Too bad Vermont is removing caches from state land. Way to go AK! "Give a man a fish, he'll eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day" - Dave Barry Quote Link to comment
+Bilder
Here is the actual email I got back. Guess it helps that the person who got it has been interested in geocaching as well. The reply: Hi Mike - Good question.....I just learned about geocaching myself this summer. I asked my supervisor about this question and he said generally if you are placing something small and unobtrusive we don't really need to know about it. From some of the folks I've talked to that do geocaches they usually place a small tupperware container or something on a small scale that is hard to find (thus making the cache a challenge) or listing a "virtual" cache. If you are going to be placing something permanently on state land - cementing something in, building a structure, etc. than you would need a permit for this type of permanent object. Thanks for your inquiry. Have fun. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I have never been lost. Been awful confused for a few days, but never lost! +walkietalkie
Thats great, Bilder. Its the Feds we have to worry about. Most of the land in Alaska is BLM controlled. Luckily, theres a lot of land to go around. Good job! Oh, yeah! I love Alaska, too Quote Link to comment
