RAD Dad Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 I have made up this cache notification. I am planning ot laminate it and place it on the OUTSIDE of all my caches once I begin placing them. What do you all think of it? It will be on a 5x8 laminated card. CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE FOUND A GEOCACHE STASH! What is a Geocache? It is a game. Like a scavenger hunt played with GPSR’s (Global Positioning Satellite Receivers) What SHOULD I do now that I’ve Found it? Well, feel free to join in the fun. Inside are little treasures. Feel free to take one, but please leave a treasure as well if you take one, so there will be treasure for everyone else who finds this. If you don’t wish to take a treasure, that’s fine, but please DO sign the guest book enclosed. Also enclosed is more information on Geocache. If you have Internet access please log your find at www.geocaching.com Here you can also find out more about the sport of Geocaching. This is NOT abandoned Property, it is periodically maintained by RAD Dad PLEASE DO NOT DESTROY OR REMOVE THIS STASH. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERNS PLEASE CONTACT ME. You can reach me by email at raddad@laimbrainz.net Enclosed you should also find some “business” cards with information as to how to log this find on the web, please take one with you for your convenience. I hope you had fun finding this stash! If this was an accidental find, hopefully it will be the first in many more finds for you should you choose to join in the fun, and may I will get to find one of your stashes someday! This stash was placed here by RAD Dad if you have any problems with the placement of this cache please contact me first before taking any action. If this is wrongly on private property, I will remove it at once if asked by property owner. I check my email frequently Monday through Friday, and will respond as quickly as I can. Geocaching is a sport that encourages responsible placement of caches, as well as good stewardship of the environment with programs such as “Cache in/Trash out”. “Cache in/Trash out” is a program in which players are encouraged to collect trash in the areas in which they are hunting for Geocaches. Please Join in the fun! ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it. Quote
Team Finn Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 Sounds Good! Dave We go until we get there..... Quote
cache-potato Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 Looks good to me. I whole-heartedly believe that the more you personalize a cache the more appealing it is. Can you get all that on an index card? Quote
RAD Dad Posted March 13, 2002 Author Posted March 13, 2002 Yeah, it doesn't look right when I cut and paste to text, but formated it all fits on the 5x8 card, and has color as well as a geocache logo in the upper left corner. I used different font sizes so it doesn't look cluttered. Thanks for the input. ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it. Quote

misguided one Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 I think this is a great idea, especially after the "I Hate I-5 XXV" cache was confiscated by the WA State Police Bomb Squad. I just placed My second cache a couple of days ago, and made sure that I put "Law Enforcement Contact 253-569-XXXX" (phone #) on the outside of the ammo can, just to be sure they call before they destroy it. Lost? I'm not lost. At least I don't think I'm lost, well............OK, maybe just a little. Quote
BrownMule & Jackrabbit Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 Good job. Hope you don't mind if I borrow it. Enjoy the Outdooors. BrownMule Quote
RAD Dad Posted March 13, 2002 Author Posted March 13, 2002 Sure, borrow it....just put your own email address in place of mine though LOL -Rich ummmm....not sure what to say here....so ummm, well errrr, uhhhh, well I guess that's it. Quote

Brokenwing Posted March 13, 2002 Posted March 13, 2002 Overall, I think this is a good idea, and I think you've done a great job with it. I do think you might want to lose the word "stash" from your description, though. For some, this word conjures up images of illegal things, (i.e. a drug stash) so it might be best to stick with "cache" instead. This is a similar discussion to that which occurred early on in the game, by the way. It's the reason today that this is called "Geocaching" and no longer "GPS Stash Hunt". Just my opinion. DisQuoi Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 I would only recommend to shorten it a bit. Frankly, I didn't even read the whole thing becasue it was so long. I understand that you want to include alot of information. It says that there is more info inside ... I'd put much of THIS with THAT info. ******************************************** CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE FOUND A GEOCACHE! +LarsThorwald Posted March 14, 2002 Posted March 14, 2002 I agree. The shorter the better! Charlie "One should never begin a journey by heading in the wrong direction..." Quote
