+GPS_DUDE
Is ther cheap mapping software available which is compatible with SDI or E Topo maps and a Trimble Pro XRS GPS unit without using a large GIS data base ? Quote Link to comment
+JDan150
This one is free www.jdmcox.com USAPhotoMaps I used this program on my laptop with my GPSr hookt to it for a trip last weekend and I could tell what lane of the freeway we wer driving in on the aerial photo. It was really cool to be able to see what is over that hill to the right just by looking at the screan on my lap. +Renegade Knight
Topografix has some inexpensive software. Not being a user I don't know about it's ability to create waypoints, routes etc. In the long run if it had as many mapping tools etc. as National Geographic Topo (and I'm seeing that NGS Topo doesn't have that much...) It would be worth it. Wherever you go there you are. Quote Link to comment
+PDOP's
You could probably use most programs that accept NMEA 0183 input for real time navigation. A good freeware program is GPS Trackmaker which works well with the free topomaps from Toporama for Canada. Their site is temporarily down at this time. I don't know of any freeware that can take advantage of the precalibrations of SDI or E Topo maps. Both FUGAWI and OziExplorer will but cost about $150 C. With all of these programs I don't know if you will be able to transfer data unless your Trimble can emulate some of the more common recreational GPSr's. Hope this helps Quote Link to comment
