But Virtual Rewards may be a good option if you qualify for them. 1 Quote

Learn about cache types https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=127&pgid=401 where you will find out about: 2.7 Virtual caches 2.26 Legacy cache types Pup Patrol 1 Quote

They took place in 2017, 2019, 2022 and 2024 and each had different selection criteria. There's been no announcement yet as to if or when there might be a fifth release. The only other legacy type that's had limited releaes is locationless but they've been just three that HQ put out for a limited time (GC8FROG, GC8NEAT and GC9FAVE). All are now archived and locked. The task was to have yourself on the image of a given webcam address, then use that image on the Found It log. Usually we needed the help of a friend to access the webcam address while we were on location, so he could make a screen capture. Edited January 3 by RuideAlmeida Quote

Some cachers have incorporated webcams into their hides since then - I believe at least one Virtual Reward has a webcam involved - but it's rare. Webcam caches Legacy cache types 1 1 Quote

I think it would be great if a very limited number of Webcams were allowed again, with restrictions. Only to be placed in places (states/countries and the like) without present Webcams, and only experiences geocachers who have found several Webcams (and so know what they are) would be allowed to publish one. 1 Quote
+Sottiwotti Posted January 5 Posted January 5 I really think webcam caches are never coming back. There are just sooo many privacy rules and security concerns now, I'm pretty sure it's just not possible anymore 1 Quote

This was true originally. Once smartphones became commonplace solo webcams are quite feasible. All 14 of my webcam Finds were with my smartphone - no phone a friend needed. Quote
