+Maxa&Co Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Hi, We published a cache, and logs started coming in with cachers finding a completely different container within 30 feet. The FTF on that log is dated several days before we placed and approved our cache, no caches nearby are published. Log has Geocaching logo but no cache ID to trace it. Three logs in that container are from members whose accounts are several years old but have 0 finds/0 logs. The whole thing makes no sense. Any thoughts? Maxa&Co Quote
Keystone Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 There are no active traditional caches or physical waypoints associated with active non-traditional caches within 528 feet of your cache. (Otherwise, it would not have been published.) The nearest archived traditional cache was 218 feet away. The nearest physical waypoint associated with an archived non-traditional cache was 375 feet away. 1 Quote
+TriciaG Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 Someone (possibly of the group that signed it) probably placed it in order to publish it, but ran into roadblocks of some sort - it either never got submitted for publication, was rejected by the reviewer, or was put in limbo for so long due to the reviewers' questions not being answered. I'd say you're safe to CITO that container. Quote
Keystone Posted June 30, 2024 Posted June 30, 2024 My prior post also covered cache pages that were created but never published. Sorry I forgot to make that clear. 1 Quote

It was suggested that possibly a muggle found a fun ("shaped like a squirrel) container and moved it there. Edited June 30, 2024 by Maxa&Co Quote
+hzoi Posted July 1, 2024 Posted July 1, 2024 Perhaps the other container is from some sort of geocaching class, where participants were provided with coordinates for a container that was never published. If you really want to know, reach out to the 0/0 cachers and see what they say. 2 Quote
