+Tokerau
A friend has a trackable in her inventory and has tried to drop it, but the system won't allow. It is a TB which wants to travel to various listed locations. In the trackable goal it states "If you log the cache at one of the locations you will be added to the Honour Board." Then the location will change to green. However only one of the locations is green and one log on the Honour Board. According to its Activity list has been to many places. Meaning the green highlighting isnt working. Do you think that it won't "Drop" because it has been to that location already, although there is no way of knowing? How do she clear this TB from her Trackable Inventory. It has been left at a location and the "Write Note" facility used to explain. The TB owner has not responded either. Quote Link to comment
+chase99g
What I would do in this case is put the trackable in the cache, don’t log it saying you dropped it there but just leave it. Put it in a bag with a note for the next cacher and have it say “if you pick up this trackable, please log “grab it from current holder, Tokerau” Hope this helps. 1 Quote Link to comment

If the Trackable item was already placed somewhere, now it may be up to the next finder to do all the hard work unscrambling the logs. Are you saying that your friend doesn't know how to do a proper Trackable log? Or that it is set up by the Trackable Owner to be impossible to Drop? Info on how to log a Trackable is here, don't skip any steps. Post the web address of the Trackable (or its Reference Number, never the Tracking Code). Or have your friend contact the Help Center: https://www.geocaching.com/help/ Who will need specific information about the item. Edited December 23, 2023 by kunarion 1 Quote Link to comment

Could it be "collectible" or in a "collection", and the only options are Write Note or Discover? Is the "honor board" maintained by the Trackable Owner? Wondering if I'm outta some loop... The Trackable Owner not responding may mean they aren't keeping up with something that was fun for them ... at the time... If "your friend" left in in a cache and wrote a note, someone will come along and correct it. Or not... Quote Link to comment
+Tokerau
This is the TB2AAYG it was left at GC48ZTQ by Scuba9. The DROP function is not available so just WRITE A NOTE was used. Resulting in the TB still appearing on her in inventory and not in the cache. My suggestion to Scuba9 is to retrieve it back (if still there) and drop it into another location. We have done a dummy run on this possib on another cache and the DROP facility was available. The TB owner must have set it up to only go to locations on the provided list once only. Failing that, as suggested, leave it for someone else to sort out. But that still leaves the problem of it being on her inventory! 1 Quote Link to comment
+Max and 99
I have never heard of that happening and didn't even know it was possible. 1 Quote Link to comment

There are very specific steps to make a proper Drop log, perhaps counterituitive but easy steps. Your friend skipped some steps. Edited December 30, 2023 by kunarion 1 Quote Link to comment
