Trail names not showing on iOS

I've just switched from an Galaxy S20+ to an iPhone 15 Pro.  When I zoom in to the map on the S20+ I can see trail names (I'm located in Vancouver).  However, when I tried to do the same thing on the iPhone it won't show the same trail names. is this a known issue?

Trail names don’t appear with the “Trails” map type, but do with the “Vector Trails” map.

Below are two examples from the official Geocaching app.  Old Buck is showing in my Android phone and does not show on my iPhone both zoomed as much as possible.

 

How do I enable the "Vector Trails" map?

My apologies - apparently the Vector Trails mapset is currently only available to Lackeys. I reached out to the engineers and the theory for why you can see the trail names on the iPhone is that it is blocking the ability to zoom in far enough to for them to appear in a way that Android is not. I will follow up with them, but there likely won't be an immediate solution.

Speaking of "Vector Trails", might I suggest a different name before releasing to the geo-public at large?  "Vector" is an implementation detail, meaningless to most end-users, in much the same way that "Leaflet" is too.

Just following up on this to see if there are any plans to remove the block on zooming further on the maps so we can see trail names?

Yes and no. There is no date, but there are plans for a new framework for the maps that will address this issue. That's all I have to share at this time.
