I solved a puzzle cache that says you need CHIRP for the final. Do you need a gps or can you do it with a phone gps with an app?

Some Android smartphones (such as Samsung phones) have the ANT+ hardware built-in.  Search the Google Play store for free "Chirp" Apps, which have a somewhat experimental feel.  Also, the "Locus Maps" App can read Chirp.  Certain Garmin GPSs (such as the Oregon 550, 650, and 750) have the ability to read Chirp, and after receiving a waypoint, you're offered the option to navigate to the waypoint.  Good luck!

I'm not sure I can recommend specific Android apps here if they're not official GS partners, but look for one with a two-word title. The first word is the name of the tech you asked about, and the second word is the name of a wild animal, looks like a dog, turns back into a dude after a full moon, etc.

Works great, if your phone has ANT capabilities onboard and implemented.

I think chirp apps might be okay to discuss because they are neither a competing GPS game nor are they interacting with the geocaching.com website in a manner other than the API.
