+captmatrix
So after 12-13 years on Android, I've made the switch to iPhone. Now I have a question.... On the Android version of the app I was able to set the compass so the map moved and rotated with me, so that when I was facing in the direction of GZ it was directly at the top center of the screen. If I rotated left, GZ moved to my right. I found this feature very useful, being able to turn my body directly toward the cache rather than having the map with north "up" all the time or having to rotate it manually. I hope I'm describing that clearly. I'm able to get that to work on Cachly but not on the official iOS app. Is there something I'm missing? Edited September 6 by captmatrix Quote Link to comment
+Max and 99
On settings, did you unclick Keep north up? 2 Quote Link to comment

There is North Up, and Heading Up, which the Help Center calls Swivel Mode. While viewing the map, cycle through the modes by tapping the icon that looks like a little compass. Which I don't understand because my spouse has the same phone and hers does it perfectly. 1 Quote Link to comment

I guess you tried that already, but here are the steps, just in case. Get out of Navigation by tapping the Left Arrow icon at the top left of the screen, to get back to the main menu. Tap the Profile icon at the bottom left. Tap the Settings gear icon at the top right. Tap Navigation. Tap the switch to the right of "Keep map north up" to turn it off. If it's already off, turn it on, then turn it off again. Select a cache, and tap the "Navigate" icon. Now the map will rotate while in Navigate. See if that works. It's working fine on my iPhone 8. I also tried the similar steps on my Droid and it works on that, too. Edited September 5 by kunarion 1 Quote Link to comment
+captmatrix
Okay, I figured it out. After trying everything suggested here to no avail, here's what worked. iPhone Settings > Privacy and Security > Location Services > System Services > Compass Calibration > toggle ON. Mine was toggled off for some reason. Once I toggled it on, everything behaves as I prefer. Thanks to all who replied, I really do appreciate your help. 1 Quote Link to comment

Since the compass was otherwise working for you, I would not have suspected an IOS compass setting. Quote Link to comment

Me neither, but I happened upon an old thread - maybe on Reddit - where someone was having the same issue and this is what solved it. Seems weird to me, especially since I could toggle to swivel mode (heading up) on the Map screen but couldn't get there in the Navigation screen. Strange issue! OK, I also notice a thread from over a year ago with the same problem and solution, and which I had completely forgotten. Quote Link to comment
