Nordic Travelbug Graveyard

Recommended Posts

I have now made a new "cache" (GCGXJ1) that is kind of virtual. There is no cache hidden at the coordinates. This is a place where missing and lost travelbugs can be placed, so that they get off the other caches.

(Right now, 6 in the morning thursday is GCGXJ1 not approved yet...)

Forget this, because geocaching.com didn't allow me to do this, they think that the US Graveyard is enough...

I have sent a mail to our new approver, Tahu Nuva, to ask him/her to think about this "cache" again.

There is a need for a nordic travelbug graveyard. The most travelbugs in the nordic countries goes between the countries or within one country in the region.

A TB graveyard is a cache where you can put your lost travelbugs. There are a lot of reasons why to put them there.

1) If you don't do it, the TB will remain on the cachepage where it was dropped off last time.

2) If you ask geocaching.com to delete the TB, all logs about the TB will get lost.

3) If you place it on a graveyard, everybody can easy find info about lost travelbugs and read the old logs of them.

4) If it is deleted and then suddenly shows up again from nowhere, all logs are gone. If it are on a graveyard, you can easily take it away from the graveyard.

Please come with comment about this with a nordic graveyard. What you think, if there are a need or not.

We'll re-bury our bear there ASAP.

Thanks for the new graveyard not so far from home ;)

I guess the need for travel bug graveyards is not that urgent anymore as with the help of the new feature you may "mark bug missing" if there is no sign of it for a long time.

Perhaps the new fuction is handy, but somehow it feels that laying a lost Travel Bug in a peaceful rest on a proper graveyard is a more dignified way of leaving the world, than just having some box ticked.
