+WenahaM Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 I apparently "dropped" a geocoin accidently as I was logging my finds. I had already dropped the physical trackable off at another cache and so I can't get the tracking number from it. I tried to delete the log, but that did not cause the trackable to reappear in my inventory. How can I get this trackable back into my inventory so that I can finish logging the visits and log it into the cache where it currently actually resides? Quote

The only way to get a trackable back into your inventory is to post a Retrieve log (to take it from a cache) or a Grab log (to take it from anywhere else). Both require the tracking number. Quote
+Viajero Perdido Posted March 14, 2023 Posted March 14, 2023 Ask the trackable owner for the number. 99.44% likely they'd be willing to help. Quote
Flying Spaghetti Monster Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 I agree - contact the owner and ask for the tracking number so you can correct things. They should be able to look at the coin's history and see that you had it so it shouldn't seem weird/suspicious that you're asking for the tracking number. Quote

Unless there's a good reason not to, I always take a picture of a TB or coin with the Tracking Code in focus, and another with both the tag and its attachment in view, especially if I'm parting with it. Go and do likewise. I take the pictures anyway, because I'm one of the few cachers I know who will post a photo showing that the item actually still exists. Even TB Owners don't post a photo, so most of them probably don't care, either. Whatever. If I'm carrying it around, I shall post some decent logs. Never post a photo online with the code in view, but it's handy to have a clear picture when posting logs later, because sometimes a "G" (for example) looks impossibly like a "C", or other worn out letters or numbers need some time for scrutiny. And avoid deleting TB logs if you can. Edit text to add some info about the issue and maybe make a new log to set it right. But if you delete logs, things get weird.
