Can there be multiple cache owners?

You can have multiple cache owner names on the listing, but the notification logs only go to the account that created the geocache, and only that account can post owner logs. The others can put it on their watch list and get all notifications.

Another option is to create a group account, with all the members knowing the password.

Well, sorta...

Most we know that "share" a cache have one account who's the actual owner, while the rest have that cache on their watch list.

There are two "group" names in my area too, one with over ten people.  Like shared, only one account can own the cache

I'm guessing that someone does maintenance and picks up the geotrash when archived.

Caches are owned by a single account. And although other responses have told you ways to pretend the cache is owned by a team, in the end, the person that set up that one account is the one ultimately responsible. Other people on the team can play their roles, but when everyone loses interest in the team, that one account owner is the one stuck maintaining the caches.
