Deleting all stored caches and starting new

I am thinking about removing all stored caches from my Garmin 64s and reloading based on my lists which filter out certain types/sizes.   That way earth caches and puzzle caches would not show.  (I'm not a fan of those two).   Has anyone done this?   Or is it a bad idea?

Sure, why not?  you can also use filters on the GPS, if you want to simply filter certain types.

Yeah, just delete any GPX or GGZ files that contain geocaches from those respective folders on your device and start using pocket queries.

If those 'stored' caches on your device came pre-loaded, that's an especially good reason for starting over.  By the time the device makes it through the distribution chain and onto the retail shelf, the information is typically too stale to be all that useful.  Yes, start your own lists!
