+ukkijaai
I have two messages in my message center which were never sent successfully due to geocaching.com bug (as told me). Both of them included one photo attachment. Therefore at the website continuously showed me the indicator for unprocessed messages which I couldn't remove in any way because all actions with those messages failed. I asked .com to reset my message indicator which was initially denied as a known issue but at some point the indicator vanished. However, recently when I switched from iOS to Android and started to use Groundspeak's Android application the problem appeared again but only in the application. I still cannot get any actions performed with those two messages which appear to be in "to be read" status persistently even the status temporarily seems to go away after browsing the message. 1 Quote Link to comment

I've had a yellow dot on my messaging icon for almost two years now. It has never gone away. And I don't think I have any unprocessed messages. It's quite annoying. Quote Link to comment
+CAVinoGal
The Message indicator will also appear if you have "new" souvenirs that you have not yet looked at with the app. Go to the menu, and View Profile. If it says Souvenirs (New), tap that to view your souvenirs. Unfinished Drafts will also cause the yellow dot to be there. Once the drafts are completed and posted, or deleted, the dot will go away. 5 Quote Link to comment

Now I just have to figure out why HQ insists that you must view your souvenirs on the app - I always thought the app was something to be used out in the field when hunting caches and viewing souvenirs seems pretty low in the priority order when doing that. 1 Quote Link to comment
+Max and 99
I did view my souvenirs on the map. Thanks for suggesting that since it never occurred to me that it was connected to the messaging system. But unfortunately the yellow dot remains. Quote Link to comment

I know some local cachers who use ONLY the app and rarely log in on the computer. It is odd that the app and the website are not synced to your account enough so that when you view your souvenirs on the website, it clears the yellow dot in the app. 50 minutes ago, Max and 99 said: But unfortunately the yellow dot remains. Do you have any drafts? My yellow dot is always on, as I am working a multi-stage and keeping notes on each stage as a draft log for that cache. The three things I've found that cause that yellow dot to appear are 1. Unsent/unread messages via the app 2. Unviewed souvenirs in the app 3, Draft notes for cache logs Quote Link to comment
+Max and 99
I've never used the Drafts feature, so that makes option 1 the most likely explanation. Quote Link to comment
+jemcjb
Sorry to resurrect this thread after so long, but, I'm experiencing a possibly related issue to that of OP. Background: I'm using the official Geocaching.com app on iOS (iPhone 13 Pro). I recently received three messages from someone from whom I'd had prior interchanges with no app issue. The Unread message indicators (red dot showing "1" on the iOS GC app icon, blue dot on the sender's thread in Messages, and blue dot on the Messages icon at bottom of screen when in-app) are all showing. There are no unsent draft logs listed. Failed Solution Attempts: I have, variously, and with no change to in-app Messages Unread status: read all three of the sender's messages in-app on iPhone; read all three of the sender's messages in-browser when logged in on a Windows PC (Read status is always correct in-browser on PC); cold rebooted the iPhone; deleted the Geocaching.com app, cold rebooted the iPhone, then reinstalled and configured the app; viewed Souveniers in-app and in-browser (as noted in prior forum posts and just in case). FWIW, the in-browser Read status is still correct and does not match the in-app Read status showing "1" Unread. The three independent messages from the same sender on the same day comprised: just text; text that included a URL hyperlink to a geocaching.com page (which displays as only text in-app); and, a photo. Any other suggestions for how to remedy this iOS in-app Unread Message status appreciated. Quote Link to comment
+jemcjb
Problem Resolved: After *sending* a message to the person whose incoming messages appeared to hang the Unread Message indicator, the indicator miraculously cleared. Whether the Send action directly resulted in clearing the in-app Unread Message indicator is not clear. However, both Geocaching.com iOS app and Geocaching.com browser message status are now in-sync and reflect proper Unread Message status. Noteworthy, or coincidental, I received messages from two other persons in the meantime (while the original person's indicator was still stuck). When I read those new person's messages, their respective indicators cleared. And, when I sent messages to those new persons, their respective indicators cleared. All the while, the original sender was still showing Unread. 1 Quote Link to comment
+Salme Maijala
I have no unread messages. I have opened the souvenirs page and browsed them. The yellow dot in the browser on the top of messages page and the blue dot down on the app page do not go away. Quote Link to comment
+streudelz1222
When viewing on my browser the yellow dot remains even after I've read my messages, but I've found if I refresh the page it goes away. This may or may not work for others. Quote Link to comment
