+Geo_TAJ 0 Posted March 14, 2016 Is it possible to use Google Photos for image hosting for background images? I've tried copy/paste the link generated by the Google Photos web app to the background image line of the chache setup page but nothing seems to happen. How do COs generally do this? +Touchstone 788 Posted March 14, 2016 I tried using my google account profile picture (the only thing I have in google photo at the moment), and the link did not appear to work as a background image. I usually upload images to the gallery of the Listing page, and then copy the link to the image from there. I know it works that way: Uploading an image Quote Share this post Link to post

I know it works that way: Uploading an image ^This is the easiest way to do it. I don't think the background image field will work unless it points to a file with an extension (e.g. http://www.example.com/image.jpg). IIRC, those Google URLs don't have the file type extension on the end (ie. .jpg, .png, etc.), so that's probably why it wouldn't work. Quote Share this post Link to post
+Viajero Perdido 515 Posted March 22, 2016 Check the terms of use first; Google may not allow that. Many/most cachers upload their pix to geocaching.com with good results. Quote Share this post Link to post
+thebruce0 1581 Posted March 22, 2016 imgur.com is another great free alternative. You don't even need to create an account, unless you may want to manage the image details in the future. Quote Share this post Link to post

I use the native application on my laptop and can just drag-n-drop images onto the desktop icon and it creates a directly link to the image. Quote Share this post Link to post
