+Malemotives
I put my first Travel Bug out there today. A TB tag attached to a Bronze skeleton key. It's setting comfortably in a TB Hotel in Parkland, WA (Tacoma area). Will be interesting to see how long it sets there before moving on. Quote Link to comment

I've been wanting a T-Shirt that says "I live vicariously through metal bugs.". Considering the number of logs it's already gotten, I'd say it's off to a good start, haha. Quote Link to comment

Keystone
I discovered this thread in the Geocaching Topics forum, and I'm virtually moving it to the Travel Bug forum. Greetings from Pittsburgh! Quote Link to comment
+blackdog7
Good luck. I released our first Travel Bug on our honeymoon. A cacher with 23 finds picked it up an hour or so after its release, didn't log it as taken only as 'Yay me find taceable bug' (<-not kidding) and kept it for three months until figuring out what it was. The frustrating part was that she did't have the 'Send Message' feature activated at the time so I couldn't contact her. Luckily she finally dropped it in a cache. All is well, right? Not so fast. Another newbie cacher picks it up and logs it as 'Found it. Will drop it in another cache in some weeks.' This cacher has had it for over six months now and wouldn't reply to my numerous emails. Finally, I get a reply saying she's sorry but all the caches in her area are frozen or buried in snow but she'll get it out as soon as she can. Yeah...all of the fun I anticipated was pretty much destroyed by the first two people to log the TB. Quote Link to comment
+Seaglass Pirates
It was stolen by an indignant idiot using the app who has 5 finds, within two hours of you putting it in a cache. I've not even looked at it and know that it's happened. As soon as I read "tb hotel" I just covered my face with my hands. I feel your future pain lol. And welcome to the addiction that is TB's. +Seaglass Pirates
I had to look - the TB hotel States "please leave at least 3 Travel Bugs in the hotel so that the hotel is not completely vacant " lol there's a surprise and the TB''s log already has: Seen in the trackable Gallery, thanks for sharing! Very nice trackable, have a safe journey! Heute in der Trackable Galerie entdeckt, danke fürs Zeigen! Schöner Trackable, gute Reise weiterhin! ... you gotta smile ... Quote Link to comment
+Malemotives
It would be nice if it shows some movement, but I won't worry much about it. While only in my second month of this insanity, even I can see that places to move TBs are limited. Don't know why, but most geocaches seem to be micros, or film canisters. Since it's not about numbers for me,my main focus is switching to larger caches, TB hotels type, and more rural than urban. Way too many micros under parking lot lights in urban. I've yet to find an urban TB hotel, although I imagine there are some out there. Quote Link to comment
+ByronForestPreserve
I've finally decided the longevity of trackables is dumb luck. I have had geocoins and TBs disappear from caches I put them in without a single log. Yet I also have coins and TBs that have traveled over 20,000 miles and have lasted almost three years. I know everyone says that every trackable disappears eventually, but they are fun to watch in the meantime. Good luck with your first Travelbug--may it go far. Quote Link to comment
+ayrbrain
I like when I see a TB in a cache, and if I am able to, I will take it and move it on. There doesn't seem to be too many in my area, so I say "Bingo" when I see one in a cache. ??good luck with yours and I hope it travels far and wide. I have given up on ones I have put out lol, but then I may get a surprise one of these days and they will resurface ?. We are just back from Tenerife where we geocached and at one cache a cacher acknowledged us from the top of a bridge, at least I assume he was a cacher as no other reason for him to acknowledge us. He must have seen me about to climb down to go under the bridge, lo and behold there was a TB in it that he had just placed there as I read that later on back at our hotel. Good luck with yours.
