Discovering hundreds of missing bugs

How it's done: either manually or using some sort of bot, enter random numbers and log a discovery each time a hit is produced. Since the old bugs had simple "secret" codes consisting of all numbers, it's pretty easy to test 123456, 123457, 123458, etc.

I got several watchlist notices yesterday under my player account for bugs I moved ten years ago. Back then, any time you moved a bug, it got added to your watchlist by default. So, they were old bugs with just numbers in their secret tracking codes.

As to WHY someone thinks it's fun to do this, who knows? I would say "to earn points in some statistical exercise or to qualify for some challenge cache," but this account is a sock set up just to discover trackables. Most of us prefer playing our game in the real world.
