+Fort S
Is there anyone else who was a charter subscriber to "Geocaching Magazine" back in 2007? I was and only received the initial issue. Despite repeated promises to either honour the subscription or provide a refund, nothing has materialized. When I look at the magazine's facebook page, there would appear to be plenty of others in the same boat. There is a company website so it would seem it is still in business. I would highly recommend avoiding this publication given its track record. Disappointing since it showed much promise in the beginning. Link to comment

If people are still being taken for a ride with the site being up, a fresh thread would help bring awareness, especially with the "beware" in the title. However someone should definitely complain to the appropriate law enforcement agency, as this type of crime is often repeated until they get caught. I can imagine him working as a treasurer for a naive kids charity. Link to comment
Mr.Yuck
Sure, we need fresh threads. Someone started one a few weeks ago, who sent the guy money in 2013. He still has a website up, where he takes money. Despite my personal efforts of getting it taken down for a few weeks in 2011 or 2012. He also, amazingly, has a Facebook page that currently has 3,335 likes. I opined a few weeks ago that 3,334 of them don't know it's a scam, and are just friending the kook. https://www.facebook.com/GeocacherMagazine I know what you're thinking, but don't bother, he deletes any negative posts. Agreed. Hopefully you guys are reporting him, otherwise he's not going to stop. Link to comment
+gpsblake
This guy also appears to run a "Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center". Did a search on the phone number. It appears to be a legit business. Don't know why he is scamming geocachers but maybe contacting him through his "legit" business might resolve this issue. Link to comment
+Don_J
So, it looks like he's in California. Try this: CA Attorney General Business Complaints If that don't work, try the Federal Trade Commission. You might also contact your local office of the FBI, or even the FCC. This has been going on for a long time and he is apparently still scamming people by selling them a subscription to a magazine that doesn't exist. Link to comment
4wheelin_fool
Try here. I would complain, but since I am not a victim, it would not be as effective. The Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) is a partnership between the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the National White Collar Crime Center (NW3C). Also it would help to file a report here, as well as here, and here. Also, contact the Orange County Sheriffs Department and advise them that a scammer is operating a non-profit outdoor center in their area, and urge them to investigate. The Non-Emergency Complaint line is 407-836-4357. Do you really think he his not making any profit from that? Edited May 13, 2013 by 4wheelin_fool Link to comment

4wheelin_fool
He's covering his tail now. Read the other thread. He created a second similar account and just started refunding money to only the most recent victims, and disabled the pay pal link as of last night, after being up for nearly 6 years. He also has no explanation of why the site was selling "past issues" with a picture of multiple magazines, when only a single one was printed. Link to comment

It's obvious someone from the Gubmint with some clout finally went after him after all these years. Perhaps from the IC3 or the NWC3, hopefully. Link to comment
Moun10Bike
This and other related threads have gotten a little out of hand of late. I'm going to close them to let the hard feelings subside; however, should any reports of ongoing fraud be forthcoming, feel free to start a new topic with any new evidence. Link to comment
