+Obilon
A nearby cache, "Have Thee Faith", that I had not yet found, has disappeared from the list and from the map (Gainesville, FL). What would cause that to happen? Quote Link to comment
7rxc
A nearby cache, "Have Thee Faith", that I had not yet found, has disappeared from the list and from the map (Gainesville, FL). What would cause that to happen? Looking at the Cache page, it was archived due to repeated mugglings, and was near a homeless camp apparently. Plan on another one, have fun with the rest of them! +cache_test_dummies
Just a side note: one of the benefits of being a Premium Member is that you can choose to receive automatic email notification of "published" and "archived" logs for all nearby caches. The notifications also include a link to the cache page - a very convenient feature. Quote Link to comment

+Don_J
Just to help our new cacher out. Caches can have one of three statuses. 1. Available - Go find it. 2. Temporarily Disabled - There is a problem with the cache and it probably can't be found. The cache owner plans of fixing it in the near future and then make it available again. 3. Archived - A cache can be archived for various reasons, but it basically means that the cache will never be available again. The record still exists and can be looked at provided that you have the GC# to look it up, but it will not be returned in a search and will no longer show on the map. This also opens up the area for others to place new caches. This particular cache had problems with people removing it and it's proximity to a homeless camp, so the owner decided to archive it. +Obilon
Thanks! I've been intending to get to it for the past couple of weeks, then it just disappeared. Thanks for the link...and all of the (more or less) helpful advice. Quote Link to comment
