Spudbindy
HI have just purchased a Megallan Eplorist GC and when I hit the send to GPS button a little popup appears to install a Magellan communicator for PC or Mac, I install it, and then nothing happens. There's a check device button and a download button but I can't click them. I have a Mac. Can anyone help me with this. Quote Link to comment
Redwoods Mtn Biker
The easiest way is to run a pocket query and drag and drop the .gpx file to the GC. Quote Link to comment

Spudbindy
Thanks guys - I loaded enough on at work using a PC for my big day out tomorrow, however I will try this in the near future (this weekend). So again thanks Quote Link to comment
DazeDnFamily
Here's the method I use with my GC: 1. Ensure that your PC and GC are powered on. 2. Ensure that your PQ(s) are downloaded, and unzipped into a folder you can find. (I use a folder on my desktop.) 3. Plug the USB cable to the computer and GC. When the option window comes up, select "Connect to PC". 4. A window should pop up in Windows, that gives you options. Choose "Open Folder to View Files". 5. Navigate to the /Geocaches folder on the GC. Copy the PQ .gpx file here. 6. Navigate to the Waypoints folder on the GC. Copy the wpts.gpx file here. 7. Disconnect the cable, and the GC should restart. You should see all of your caches on the list. 8. Also of note, the GC will hold 10,000 caches. I, however, delete all of the gpx files in mine, and do a clean load every time. Easier for me to keep track of that way. I have never even seen VantagePoint, so I have no clue how it works. Hope this helps! Quote Link to comment
EScout
One advantage of using the free Magellan software: "Vantage Point" is that you can click the Geocache icon, and it will take you to this site and show you the list of your Pocket Queries, where you choose, download and then send to your Explorist. It can also check if you have the latest firmware, has a map to show your geocaches, and waypoints. You can also save these to your computer in several file formats, and more. Quote Link to comment
deeboz
I have a mac as well, and I struggled for days on end with this same problem. The only way to download caches is to run a pocket query like stated many times above. I have been on the phone with tech support for hours on 2 different occasions, and I have even had an entire email conversation with Magellan's lead "tech" guy. It seems that they'll never solve this issue that affects so many people who have purchased their product. It's a real shame. Quote Link to comment
