Seaglass_Pirates
New to it all. Santa brought an Oregon 550 and a cheerful smile and a good luck. We brought the username lol. Our rellies are into it in a big way and it has caught on. We are in deepest darkest Cornwall UK. Pirate land. And we cant wait to get started. Just have to learn a bergillion rules, master the art of GPS (putting the batteries on charge is gonna be a struggle still....) and learning the difference between micros etc... we are no longer "muggles" but we have not gotten to Hogwarts quite yet. Maybe in a couple of weeks... Anyhow Hello all Quote Link to comment
+Legochugglers
Seasons greetings and welcome to geocaching. I have heard you have some great caching territory down in Cornwall so I am sure you cant wait to get out and do some searching. Maybe you could post back on to this thread when you have found your first one and tell us how you got on. Warning- it can be addictive. Good luck. Quote Link to comment

+The Blorenges
Welcome Seaglass Pirates Glad to see you found these forums - Many don't find them for ages... sometimes never! This is a good spot to get general help / advice. If you have a specific question about geocaching in Cornwall, or elsewhere in UK, you might like to ask in the UK and Ireland forum. +Pure Cane Sugar
I'm new too, and it definitely helps to read the last few logs on each cache. It's really good to know if they found it easily, or if they think it might be missing, or if they found the road to be impassable when it rains, or WHATEVER. Since we don't have a lot of experience yet, we can at least take cues from the experience of others! Edited December 30, 2011 by Pure Cane Sugar Quote Link to comment

+entogeek
Nor should you be hesitant to post a DNF (Did Not Find) - even if the last 10 cachers said it was an easy find. Sometimes caches go missing, sometimes our geosenses fail us. When you get to GZ (ground zero), put your GPS in your pocket and say to yourself, "Hmmm... now where would I hide this cache?". Look for a pile of rocks, or sticks, under lamp post skirts, etc. But above all else, remember that this is a game and have FUN! Quote Link to comment
