Deleting found geocaches

Hi all.

Please could someone give me some advice as to how to delete found geocaches on my garmin gpsmap62s. After my days geocaching i am uploading my geocache finds on my field notes and then when i go to my garmin files and delete the geocache logs and visits the found geocaches still appear on my gps.Many thanks Rob

The short answer is to delete the geocache_visits.txt in the \Garmin folder and also any .gpx files in the \Garmn\gpx folder

Remember though....before deleting ANY files on your Garmin, make a back up of everything on it. This way if you accidently delete a critical file you can also replace it. It is also good to do this after every GSP software update.

Deleting the _visits.txt file is not necessary (nor useful) for getting rid of "found" caches on the unit. Only the .gpx files matter.

Thanks for all your replies but i thought when you delete the geocache visits file this automatically deletes the caches shown on my gps map.I am sure i did this with my gps62. Surely i dont have to go through the caches i have found via gpx file and delete them this way ???

No. That file only tracks whether you found or did not find the cache if you log it on your Garmin.

Should be the same as the 78S. Are you actually marking the caches as "Found" on the unit under the "Log Attempt" page? With my 78S when I do that the caches no longer appear on the "Geocaches" page.
