  4. HI all. What is your preference as to where you look for geocaches.Urban or countryside?? I live in scarborough and have a choice of either caching around the surrounding towns and villages or heading out into the countryside.I do prefer to do my caching in the countryside though as i find it more relaxing. What do you prefer ????
  5. I logged a did not find. Can you explain what is NA Thanks
  6. This question might of been asked before but i cannot find an answer so i have dicided to see if i can get an answer on here. I was geocaching yesterday and was looking for a cache which basically was not there. After returning home i did some reasearch on this cache and the cache owner and they have not been on the geocaching site since the beggining fo this year. They have also had 2 out of the 3 caches archived because they have not replaced their caches after they have gone missing. So what i am wanting to know is if this cache gets archived could i put a cache in its place as it is a really nice hide.??Many thanks Rob
  7. I agree. When you mention names, expect fallout. Probably would have been better to post a few private emails to local cachers, than take this issue world-wide in these forums. Maybe contact a reviewer or a local geocaching group in your area for ideas on education of new folks. They've only been playing a month. This person is not even geocaching. He is randomly choosing caches and logging found.I just thought i would make people aware what he is doing.Sorry if i offend anyone
  8. Hi all.Just thought id let you all know that a person with the name of SKYMAN88 is logging caches without actually finding them.He is logging caches in and around Scarborough,ENGLAND.I was made aware of this by a couple of other cachers who,s caches he had logged as found but after they visited their caches then realised he had not sighned the log.He also logged finds on my caches so i sent him a polite email asking him to describe my caches but he has not replied so i deleted his logs.I cannot see what he or she is gaining from this as they are only fooling themselves. So i just thought i would let everyone know so if they see this username on their caches thay know who he or she is.Many thanks Rob.
  9. Hi.I have a 62s and i find this gps does everything i need for geocaching. Most of all it supports paperless caching which i think is a must. Hope this helps.Rob
  10. Hi all.I am a bit puzzled as whether to have my trackable as collectable or not.I know this may sound like a silly question but if i make my trackable collectable does this mean someone can keep it ??.Please could someone advise me which option i want as i dont want someone to keep it.Many thanks in advance.Rob
  11. Hi.I am also new to geocaching myself so i can only give you some information that i have found useful.I would look for a gps unit that supports paperless caching as i find this invaluble. Also look for a unit that has the SD card slot as this comes very usefull for maps.I have the Garmin Gpsmap 62s and i find this unit easy to use but there are cheaper models on the market.Have a look at the new garmin etrex as they support paperless caching and have the sd card slot.I hope this is of some use to you. ROB

  14. Hi all.I am looking for some reccomendations as to what handlebar mount to buy for my garmin gpsmap 62s. I have been told that you can damage the gps due to it shaking whilst in the mount especially while offroad cycling.I have looked on the internet and there is quite a few mounts on the market but i want to be sure i purchase the right mount for offroad cycling.Any advise would be gratefull. Thanks ROB
  15. Thanks for all your replies but i thought when you delete the geocache visits file this automatically deletes the caches shown on my gps map.I am sure i did this with my gps62. Surely i dont have to go through the caches i have found via gpx file and delete them this way ???
  16. Hi all. Please could someone give me some advice as to how to delete found geocaches on my garmin gpsmap62s. After my days geocaching i am uploading my geocache finds on my field notes and then when i go to my garmin files and delete the geocache logs and visits the found geocaches still appear on my gps. Many thanks Rob
  17. Thanks everyone for the information received i have managed to scrape up the money for a 62s.
  18. Hi all. I recently bought a Garmingpsmap62 and i am wanting to sell this unit as i am wanting the gps62s. My 62 is virtually brand new and has only been used on 4 geocache outings as i bought it around 3 weeks ago. Could anyone give me any advice on what i should be asking for this unit. Many thanks.
  19. Hi. If you connect your gps to pc via usb you can delete caches through gpx file. I have a 62 and i think this is the only way to do it.Hope this helps. Rob
  20. I have for sale a brand new garmin gpsmap 62 for sale.I bought the unit around 3 weeks ago so i have still got box & receipts etc needless to say it has very little use. There is a very genuine reason for me selling this unit as i bought this unit without looking if it had a SD card slot which it does not.I cannot take this unit back to where i bought it as it was specially ordered for me and i think it will be highly unlikely that i will be able to get an exchange as i am now wanting a 62s.So if anyone is interested in buying this unit i am asking £150.00 No offers please.I am based in scarborough North yorkshire. The unit will have to be collected from my home adress. Many thanks for looking.ROB
  21. Hi all. I am looking for some help regarding seeing waypoints on my gpsmap 62. What is happening is i select a waypoint to navigate to then select GO then when i select the trip computer page the only thing i see is the nearest geocache to my location and not the waypoint i selected. But if i select the MAP page it shows a line to my destination waypoint. Any help as to where i am going wrong would be gratefull ROB
