meuzobuga
Hello, I'm a beginner and I'd like to hide my first cache. I have found a nice location, but I'm having second thoughts. I'm almost 6'1 and reaching this location is easy for me. But it would probably be hard/impossible for people under maybe 5'8 to access it. How acceptable would this be ? Could this be displayed in any way in the difficulty rating ? Quote Link to comment
Pup Patrol
I'm 5' 2", so some caches are out of my reach. If it's mentioned in the cache description, then at least I'll know ahead of time that I might need help of some type. If it's not mentioned in the cache description, and we get to the location, I can be slightly ticked off to find out that it's out of reach. The difficulty rating could certainly be upped a notch, and the reasoning behind it explained on the cache page. Quote Link to comment
+hukilaulau
Hard? maybe. Impossible? probably not. Go ahead and do it. You'll be surprised at the ingenuity of geocachers. Quote Link to comment

+Chief301
It's perfectly acceptable. Figuring out how to retrieve the cache is sometimes part of the challenge. If I were you I might just allude to it in the cache description or the hint, just to give searchers a fair warning that the "vertically challenged" should be prepared. Quote Link to comment
+Chief301
Oh, one other thing...if possible, try to rig it so that it's able to be replaced as well. I've encountered a couple of "up high" caches that were easy enough to knock down with a stick, jump up and grab, etc, but turned out to be considerably harder to place back in it's spot. Folks will end up hiding it in the wrong spot because they can't get it back in the right one. Quote Link to comment
+NanCycle
At just barely 5' I've learned to carry a step-stool in the vehicle; I'd really appreciate knowing that I'd need to bring it along to the cache. Or if it's a significant hike, to bring a much taller person. So, I don't mind the cache being higher, if I'm forewarned. Quote Link to comment
+BrixingtonPaddler
There is one near me thats 20ft up a brick wall that is used for the local marine training... some people bring their own ladders to that http://coord.info/GC1DHDA Edited August 17, 2011 by BrixingtonPaddler Quote Link to comment
+ShowStop
Issues with height or being able to grab the container would be reflected in the terrain rating. To me, I would rate the terrain a 2 star based on what you stated. Quote Link to comment
