want to place a new cache, nearest cache to it?

If you are the cache location, you can just look at the list of waypoints and it will show you the distance to each (with the list being sorted by distance). For regular waypoints, use "where to > waypoints", for geocaches, use the geocaching menu and then either "find a geocache" or "show found".

If you are not at the location, you can mark a waypoint at the proposed cache location (mark waypoint > save and edit > edit location) and then use the same functions as above, but before you pull up the list of closest waypoints/cache, use the "search near" button (the bullseye button) and choose the waypoint you've just marked. The list will then show you the distance to that waypoint, and not the distance to your current location.

Alternatively you can put the GPS into demo mode (settings > system) and have it simulate your current location to be where you'd put the cache.

All the above is using your GPS and provided you have all the caches from the area loaded. You can also use the website: http://www.geocachin...ek/default.aspx and put in the coordinates of the proposed cache location. Of course this will only show you the closest listings and not any other waypoints there might be, but in most cases, it's gonna be enough.

Doing it from the webpage, you might also run into the issue of finding out that your proposed cache is within 500 feet of a 'hidden' cache. This could be part of someone's multi-cache, a mystery cache final spot, or a Premium cache that a regular member might not see. Just something that I ran into once.
