Redfist
I've visited HQ already and while there bought a Triad geocoin. I'm relatively new to geocaching and didn't know what that meant. I haven't done the other 2 caches so now that I know what the triad means, I'm not displaying the coin until I do find both Original and APE. And in fact... I'm scheduled to do so at the end of this month. I'll be in the Seattle area for work and am taking a day off to have some geocaching fun. My question for you all is... what "must finds" or other fun activities would you recommend while I'm near those 2 caches? For reference: APE refers to "Mission 9: Tunnel of Light" (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=7d120ae2-855c-430d-9c14-3d7427de4bdd#) Original refers to "Original Stash Tribute Plaque" (http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=a79d6f50-74a6-4c85-b18c-86dd8b7313ab#) Are there any challenges still active, etc. that I would be remiss to skip? Thanks, Redfist Quote Link to comment
DanOCan
Normally I would say "Be sure to hit Washington's oldest cache GCD, which is just across the valley from the APE", but I imagine it's pretty well buried in snow at this time of year. Quote Link to comment
WeightMan
There is a bookmark with some great caches in the area. See the Northwest Classics bookmark. The first three on the list are the triad. Quote Link to comment
plumbrokeacres
While at the stash check out holt macro! Right on the corner headed up to the stash it is better to find it with a group though Quote Link to comment
Jennifer&Dean
If you are in Portland, check out Dr Who. It is pretty cool. J Quote Link to comment
lamoracke
One of the 3 caches created in 2000 in Washington lies just north of the Ape Cache, Iron Horse. The GCD referenced earlier is much harder to get to and is often done a different day, by at least folks up here. GC79 is the GC#. No reason to not get that the same hike. Surprised its not on Hydnsek's list. Quote Link to comment
Sol seaker
There is a "Center of the Triad" Cache http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=14e37fba-05d5-4f31-af66-ac09b1f01ecb This is only for those who are up for a challenging hike. In Seattle: The Tubular Series in Seattle are classics!! The first one I just got the link for has 48 favorite points!!!! http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=9acbbc57-a4cf-4bfe-b684-7f43804462e5 Totally Tubular II has 55 favorite points http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?guid=743e3b4a-4716-4758-8144-3a8c76dfa964 There are more Tubular caches too. I highly recommend them!!! Quote Link to comment
