Is there a way to automatically notify you of any new caches in your area? The only way I know how is to run a PQ every now and then for caches placed in the last week.

If you sign in on www.geocaching.com goto profile then under search options I think that how you do it.

To add to what JJnTJ said, you will want to select "Publish Listing" for each cache type you want to monitor. This will give you the notification when new caches of that type go live.

This option needs to be redesigned... kinda silly to have to create a notification for EACH type of cache

well, it does make sense if you consider that different cache types have different log types. but yeah i agree, there's much better ways this whole thing could be set up.
