PN-40 PQ Transfers

Recommended Posts

I just got my first GPS in the form of a PN-40. I figured out most of it but I still don't know how to load pocket queries on to it. After going through the forums I decided it will probably be easiest for me to use Topo 8. So how do you send a PQ to the PN40 with T8? I'm sure this is really easy but I can't figure it out. Thanks for the help.

A) You need a Premium Membership to get PQs, regardless of your software or GPS.

:D Since you just purchased the PN-40 (I assume brand-new), you should qualify for a free upgrade to Topo9, which makes it MUCH simpler once you have the PM. Call DeLorme Sales & talk to them.

If you have a PQ file and Topo8, you need only drag and drop the PQ into an open T8 project. Then transfer the resulting waypoint layer to your PN-40 with Handheld Exchange.

I agree that Topo9 makes it even easier. After you log into your geocaching.com account from within Topo9, all you have to do is hit the Sync button whenever Topo9 automatically updates your PQ files.
