jadunlop
Hi there, I've been reading for hours how to do paperless caching with my Garmin etrex Legend HCx and my iPod Touch and my Mac. Right, this is what I've ended up doing and I'm sorry if it is already posted here but I couldn't find it! 1. Using my new shiny Premium Membership. I created a PQ. 2. I unzipped the PQ files on my Mac and using MacCaching (free) I opened the .gpx file. Fantastic, you can read all the logs and the hints. 3. I exported as a vCard (ipod contacts). Then created a new smart group in Contacts called Geocache and moved everything with GC into it so I can delete or add. 4. I then sync in iTunes to my iPod Touch. 5. Sorted Is this the easiest way? +ngrrfan
Easiest way?? I don't think so. Here's how I do it. On my iPod I have Geosphere. I create a PQ and send it to an alternate email address, then I open Geosphere and download the PQ into the program. Sounds like a lot less steps than what you go through. Quote Link to comment
jadunlop
Did you pay for Geosphere? Is it an app? Jim Quote Link to comment
buttaskotch
the geocaching app is $9.99 and you can download PQ in the app. Quote Link to comment
jadunlop
Righto! I'm in the UK and I think it will cost around £4.99. If it is really better than my effort in my first post then I guess it is worth it! I take it it is good? Is it called Geocaching with Geosphere? drewmm
I've never used Geosphere. I use the Groundspeak app on my iPhone. I don't have a premium membership but I know that the Groundspeak app can download PQs. Can't say whether Groundspeak or Geosphere is better, but Groundspeak should work for you. Keystone
I am moving this thread from the Geocaching Topics forum to the GPS and Technology forum. Quote Link to comment
fegan
I own and have used both the Groundspeak Geocaching app and Geocaching with Geosphere...can't remember the last time I used the Groundspeak Geocaching app because I find Geocaching with Geosphere to be so much better...and it's $2 cheaper. YMMV Quote Link to comment
