Trying to Use a SD card to increase memory in GPSr

Hey all you techies out there,

I bought a SD card to increase waypoint memory in my etrex venture, which has a slot for it. However, when using the Macaching program to transfer a list, I find I cannot access that extra memory in the GPSr and I'm still locked into the 250 or so waypoint memory limit. I looked through the GPSr system and map settings to no avail. Is there a work around where I could find another way to transfer the data onto the card and then pop it into the GPSr? Thanks in advance, I'm keepin my fingers crossed!!

The eTrex Venture doesn't take a card. Generally speaking, those units that do, use that memory for maps, tracks, and POIs, not for additional waypoints. There is not setting to change that.

The waypoint memory is internal. This is fixed and can not be increased. The waypoint limit is 500 on an etrex Venture HC. If it does take a sd card, which according to the specs it does not, it can be used for maps or POI's. Loading the caches as POI's is the only way to increase the number of caches.

AFAIK, on all Garmin GPSr, there is no way to increase number of waypoints (or geocaches for the paperless units) by adding memory card.

Browsing through Garmin's site, the discontinued Garmin Venture Cx does accept microSD card.

Yeah, phooey. Does anybody want an SD card-brand new hardly used. Maybe I'll put it in a cache. Rats.

I've done that with the Nuvi 255-and it works great. I suppose theres no way to do it with the Venture cause there's only waypoints - no POIs

Thanks guys.
