+shantz_uk_&_cleverclogs
Hi I have just discovered this new pastime (through an article in the air southwest inflight magazine) and found my first cache today. Looking forward to gaining more and more cache discoveries and no doubt i will be on here with many questions, are there any groups in Plymouth? Quote Link to comment
+sssss
There is an geocaching event a bit further down towards the pointy bit of England in December. You will be able to meet up with others cachers there. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...8ea3c&log=y Quote Link to comment
+The Blorenges
hello shantz_uk, welcome, and well done on that first cache find. Geocaching doesn't really work through a network of local groups. Mostly, the hunting is done by individual account names (be they one individual, or two partners, or a family group) and this means that you don't often meet other geocachers 'out in the field'. The getting-together-in-a-group bit happens at Event caches, like the one in that link above from sssss. This is when cachers meet up socially to chat about geocaching and maybe swap their travel bugs and geocoins around. If you take the opportunity to attend a few within your locality you'll get to put the faces to the names you'll see in the cache log books, then friendships develop and casual groups get together occasionally to spend a day caching a particular area, or perhaps to attempt a particularly difficult cache. +Birdman-of-liskatraz
But... I'm in Liskeard if you wish to give me a shout we could go and do a few caches together... Theres an event in planning near Liskeard in January. Quote Link to comment
+DigitalJim
...you don't often meet other geocachers 'out in the field'. Unless you're a FTF bandit sitting by your emails! Quote Link to comment
