+Frank22
How does the GC code translate into the coordinates? I assume there is a correlation of some sort. Regards Frank22 Quote Link to comment
+dostuffgps
Don't know that it does translate into coords. Don't know why you would want to get the coords from the code if you could. I always get my coords from the geocache page, download into my Oregon 400t from the computer (paperless is my thing) and off I go. Quote Link to comment
jholly
How does the GC code translate into the coordinates? I assume there is a correlation of some sort. Regards Frank22 The GC code is a sequentially assigned number (base 31). It has nothing to do with co-ordinates. Jim Quote Link to comment
+RonFisk
How does the GC code translate into the coordinates? I assume there is a correlation of some sort. Regards Frank22 It doesn't... The GC code is assigned by Groundspeak and it relates only to the cache. Not the coordinates. Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
It is just a unique name attached to the cache to separate it from all others. No encoding of any kind. Quote Link to comment
+Team Veverca
No there isn't. GC code is given to you when you create a cache and it's random. dadgum! I didn't type fast enough. Edited August 27, 2009 by Team Veverca Quote Link to comment
