+chrisrayn Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I would have just edited my old post...but it didn't show me the option...sorry I made a new post for this. I'm gonna message my reviewer but if the cache doesn't go through, I still want people to be able to see this place in some way. :-) Enjoy! I hope people get a chance to see this as part of a cache one day! :-) chrisrayn Quote
knowschad Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 That is darned cool! I've seen old abandoned roads like that before, but not a mile's worth in one stretch! Are there lots of party spots / fire pits that need CITO? Good luck with it! Quote
+9Key Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Its interesting how nature takes over in a fairly short amount of time. Quote
+bittsen Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Seeing that the road is still there, I can't imagine farmers claiming the road as their property. It's pretty cool to see how mama nature likes to undo whateve man doesn't maintain. I think it's a great place for a cache. Nice pictures. It reminds me of a road I walked to get to a cache on mountain. The mountain road was abandoned a long time ago but makes for an excellent hiking trail. Quote
knowschad Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Reminds me of scenes from The History Channel's Life After People show. Quote
Clan Riffster Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I think on top of the bridge pilings would be a good spot for an ammo can. Quote
+swizzle Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 That's just cool. We have a road close by here that's similar to that only no lines. Its all blacktop. It runs along the river. Maybe I should consider putting a short multi on it. Swizzle Quote
+tango501 Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 work up a couple of Multis with the 2 finals 528' apart coming from opposite directions Quote
knowschad Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 I think on top of the bridge pilings would be a good spot for an ammo can. Yeah... you're just saying that so you can get an easy FTF. BTW, what's an "FTF"? Quote
knowschad Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 (edited) work up a couple of Multis with the 2 finals 528' apart coming from opposite directions Not to pick on you, or single you out, but a prime example is your own stats: out of your 259 finds, only 2 are multi-caches. Why? Because like you, very few cachers take the time to do them (for various reasons). Besides, stages of a multi do not need to be 528' apart. Let's reword that to: "Work up a bunch of ammo box caches as near to 528' apart as your reviewer will tolerate." Edited August 4, 2009 by knowschad Quote
Clan Riffster Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Yeah... you're just saying that so you can get an easy FTF. Nah... It's not swampy enough. Quote
+mrbort Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I loved the photos Old roads like that are neat. The other day my dad and I revisited a cache that highlights the old satellite town to Los Alamos where the contract workers etc lived and worked. He wanted to get a NeHi at the corner store but we just went to the gas station. It's now a bedroom community largely populated by workers at Los Alamos still and is part of the town of Los Alamos... We both never new before caching that some of the old town still exists. Fun Quote
Dinoprophet Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Lovely! If you place the cache, please add it to the Among the Ruins thread. Quote
+goosefraba1 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Whoa.... that should be on man vs. wild.... he wouldn't know how to survive on that road. Quote
+Y2KOTA Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Reminds me of scenes from The History Channel's Life After People show. Thats what I was thinking when I saw the photos. Thanks for posting the photos! Quote
+texasgrillchef Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 What I would like to see is the pictures of the so called "No Trespassing" signs and WHERE they are located in relation to the road. TGC Quote
+power69 Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I think on top of the bridge pilings would be a good spot for an ammo can. Or a blinkie on back of that guardrail Quote
