LabradorDude
Hello. I'm attempting to create a virtual cache at a local historic location. In reviewing the documents and instructions for creating a cache, I notice that virtuals are "grandfathered" types of caches. When I attempt to create my cache, there is no option for a virtual. Are virtuals a no-no any longer? I feel stupid but have never created a cache before and don't want to get banned or blacklisted. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks! www.newportmi.com Greg aka labradordude Quote Link to comment

Or Waymarking may be an option. Quote Link to comment
+Kit Fox
The option to create new virtuals ended many years ago. Your only option is to create a traditional cache, or even a multi that highlights the unique points of the area you want to share with others. Good luck! +StarBrand
Virtuals are no longer accepted. Older ones were left alone and thus marked as grandfathered. You might check out www.Waymarking.com - virtuals can be listed there as a waymark. You may wish to review the guidelines for caches to make sure you understand what is required. http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx Quote Link to comment
+briansnat
Before attempting to list any cache be sure to read the guidelines. They mention the fact that virtuals are no longer accepted. Quote Link to comment
Boneman65
Just out of curiosity, what is, or was, a virtual cache? Quote Link to comment
+StarBrand
Just out of curiosity, what is, or was, a virtual cache? I'll give my oversimplified definition: A geocache is something hidden somewhere. A virtual was just the somewhere. Quote Link to comment
