+Yorkie30
Hi, I know paperless has been covered many times before but I have searched and can't find out what I need to know, so sorry for repeating it yet again. Is a Palm Z22 Handheld PDA any good for paperless geocaching, can I download the geocache log page information onto it so I don't have to keep writing the info down in my notebook? I have a Garmin Vista GPS so I am not really interested in downloading memory map. I am just getting into the technical bit of this hobby. Thanks for your help in advance Yorkie30. +Pharisee
How many cache pages can I fit onto a Palm Z22 using Cachemate? I don't know that particular device but if it accepts a memory card then as many as you like. I use a Garmin iQue 360 which is a Palm based PDA with a built in GPS. It accepts SD cards and I use a 1GB card. I had the whole of the UK's active caches loaded into CacheMate and that was getting on towards 42,000 records (enough for a days caching?). However, I did notice that if the number of records in CacheMate exceeded 32767, you lost the side scroll bar for some reason which made it a bit difficult to search through the list so I now limit database to fewer records than that. +Haggis Hunter
Until I bought my Oregon I used the Z22, and it worked fine for me. It took full PQ's I never tried any more than 250 caches on it. You can also upload colour photo's onto it, which is good for spoilers. Quote Link to comment
